Tropezón is an Andalusian-inspired gin and tapas bar located on the historic Española Way in South Beach, Miami Beach, Florida.
What Makes It Unique
Tropezón (which translates to “a stumble” or “to trip upon” in Spanish) is distinct for several reasons:
- Gin-Centric Cocktail Program: The bar’s focus is on the Spanish tradition of the Gin & Tonic, featuring a collection of over 20 house-infused gins. These infusions use a wide array of ingredients, including teas, fruits, nuts, and even cured meats, allowing for creative and complex cocktails.
- Andalusian Inspiration: The venue aims to capture the spirit of traditional Spanish village saloons, where people gather for drinks and conversation over small plates.
- Atmosphere and Decor: The interior has a snug, convivial feel with a lot of wood, vintage movie posters, and legs of jamón Ibérico hanging from the ceiling, contributing to an old-world charm. It’s often described as a cozy, hidden gem tucked away from the main South Beach bustle.
History
Tropezón opened in late 2021 and is a concept from Lost Boy & Co. co-founders Randy Alonso and Chris Hudnall (the team behind Lost Boy Dry Goods). It is situated within the Esmé Miami Beach hotel complex on Española Way. The goal was to introduce the culture of Andalusian dining—a cuisine rooted in Arabic, African, and Mediterranean influences—to Miami Beach, with a focus on shared tapas and the Spanish gin tradition.
